The hostel only offers fried rice or fried noodles for breakfast so although I didn’t mind the rice, Beth went in search of a crossiant elsewhere haha. We also saw a Starbucks and thought we should sample the iced versions of our favourite orders 😉

We visited the war remnants museum, which was a seriously confronting experience learning about the Vietnam war. Hundreds of photos showing the devastating effects people suffered from bombs, Agent Orange, and torture. It’s absolutely mad to think humans have used their intelligence to destroy other human life. Ugh!!

After a quick look at the reunification palace we had a little sit down in the park. A man approached us and asked about our travels, when I asked what he was up to he said “looking for foreigners. I want to practice English” – as willing participants we had a good chat and before long two university students joined in the conversation. Although the above interaction may sound weird it’s actually quite common for the Vietnamese to want to practice their English with visitors! One of them had a guitar and serenaded us with Ed Sheeran. Lovely!

The underground market was only a few meters away so we popped in to have a look (and maybe bought) more clothes. We then visited ‘The world of Heineken’ which is located at the top of a skyscraper overlooking the city. As a former employee I was BUZZING for this!

The tour included a brief history of Heineken, a Virtual reality experience of making beer, a games room, and of course learning to pour the perfect Heineken pint. We met some fab people on the tour that we then went on to party with at Ocean club on Ben Thanh walking street.
