Day out at all Ko Kret island, north of Bangkok. We left the hostel to catch a boat upstream, and we could see the boat approaching so legged it to get a ticket. We then queued behind everyone else only to then realise the boat was speeding off and we had been politely stood behind people waiting for the tourist boat. Oops!

Eventually we got to Ko Kret, and for the geographers among you it was formed by an oxbow lake getting cut off.

We hired bikes to get around the island and although the size was fine for me, the saddle was too low for Beth. The lady said the seats weren’t adjustable so she ended up trading a bike with a taller one at another stall – haha.

The island itself was quiet, Monday is rest day for markets and we seemed to be the only tourists knocking about. We didn’t mind this at all.

The real Xercise4less:

Headed back to get our big bags before heading to Hua Lamphang train station, where we got on our overnight train. The conditions were actually really good and we both got lower berth bunks so we could look out the window.

The main problem we had was that it was cold overnight, they love having the air con on full blast, which is great when you first step in but nasty when sat it in for hours! Always too hot or too cold aren’t we.
