You can’t come to Phong Nha and not see the Paradise cave, that would be Phong ‘Nahhhh’.

To be honest, I was a bit caved out but Paradise cave is definitely a beauty. It was only discovered 10 years ago (people just wouldn’t have stopped in Phong Nha before!!) and made into a tourist attraction. In all fairness it’s really cool, colorful, and big enough to fit the population of Switzerland (probably).

As always, it’s a mission to get to the entrance and takes about 20 minutes of uphill walking. Once you’re in the temperature drops to about 10 degrees. The whole cave is supported by plain lights, meaning you can see the formations and their natural colours. I think I’d use the word ‘Fantasy cave’ rather than ‘Paradise cave’ as the colours and formations reminded me of Disney’s Fantasia.

The whole excursion to paradise cave was a little over 2 hours, but we enjoyed the scenic drive in an air conditioned car (as opposed to hiring motorbikes!).

After another day of caves we chilled by the pool and drank beer. The spelunking crew re-grouped for dinner and craft beers at Nguyen Shack before dancing on tables at Easy Tiger.
