I travelled alone through The America’s and made it back in one piece. Here is my advice for anyone doing something similar:
- keep your money in your bumbag and keep it attached to you at all times
- bring padlocks with you – preferably a code lock instead of a key lock (in case you lose the key!)
- let someone know where you are in the world – I enabled my location on the Find My Friends app so close family members could see where I was
- safety in numbers – sometimes team up with other solo travellers and do things together!
- try not to travel at night – lading in a new country and getting into a taxi in the daytime can be a different vibe at night
- get a phone case with a ring or grip so your phone is harder to take directly from your hands (and actually hold your phone with a finger through the ring)
- have a good awareness of the currency conversion so you don’t accidentally get ripped off (especially when you first arrive)
- dress appropriately – do as the locals do!
Travelling alone isn’t stressful if you practice the above 🙂
