Today we got up early for our bus to Siem Reap, after a pleasant experience with Mekong Express we rebooked with their company for our next journey. It took about 7 hours with a lunch break halfway and we got to Siem Reap mid afternoon.

Our hostel here is the best yet – it’s extremely modern and clean, and has more than you’d ever expect from budget accommodation- win! For more details, check out Accommodation in South East Asia.

A short walk away from the hostel we found the main area and decided to go for back massages. The cost came to $5 each for one hour and we were pretty happy after sitting on that bus all day.

Across the road was a recommended restaurant, The Khmer Kitchen, serving traditional Cambodian dishes. I opted for the green curry and Beth went for the Hot Basil. The food was great but the beer that only cost 50 cent was even better.

After dinner we got our bearings looking round the night markets and walking through pub street. Beth visited the fish foot spa as I spoke to Cambodian children wanting to practice their English.

We rounded off the day with a fat pot of Frozen Yoghurt, sold to us by a group of people engaged in ‘Project Y’, where profits go towards education.
