We took the free tour run by our hostel which meant we had an introduction to the history of Vietnam and some of the local must-do’s. After some traumatic road crossing experiences we saw the oldest bridge in the country, the tourist market, and the Ho Hoan Lake. We also stopped to try colours jelly with fruits and condensed milk, which I thought was tasty. Rumours are that some people add in kidney beans and the like too!

After the tour finished we visited the Opera house and then headed to Hoa Lo Prison, which was used for political prisoners and later prisoners of war. It was SO dark and eerie inside but very interesting to look around.

Cities can get tiring so a one hour nap was totally acceptable. In the evening we went for a massive sushi sesh with pals from the hostel and enjoyed the night life. Appropriately, we spent most of the night in Hangover club.
