The highlight of today was seeing the water puppet show. I’d never seen anything like this before but it was pretty entertaining. The words and lyrics are all in Vietnamese but you can kind of understand the general theme by what the puppets are doing. They are accompanied by musicians who are split onto both sides of the stage and are led by a guy playing the wooden flute. I spent the entire show theorising that the puppeteers were in scuba outfits swimming below but they actually control the puppets from long cords behind the stage. Still – very impressive.

We also had coffee in the smallest but cutest cafe ever called Dinh. It’s a real hole in the wall but worth it when you find it.

In the evening we met up with our Canadian pals for dinner and enjoyed main courses on the main strip followed by dessert (caramel jelly and condensed milk) nearby.

As we strolled back we checked out some of the goods sold at the market stalls and shops. Hundreds of ‘genuine’ (fakes) for sale including The North Face, Fjallraven  Kanken, Gucci and so on. Anyone want a gift bringing back?
